PETAN is proud of its member and founder, Charkin Maritime Academy (CMA), Sir (Dr.) Charles K. Wami, for having been granted accreditation to run National Diploma (ND) in Nautical Science and Marine Engineering in his institution by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE).
A maritime educational and training institution located in Port-Harcourt, Rivers state, the Charkin Maritime Academy (CMA) is also a two-time NIMASA award winner for ‘The Best Maritime Education and Training Institution of the Year’, among other awards from international oil companies (IOCs) and maritime organisations.
Expressing his delight, founder, Dr. Wami said that the CMA, which has started admissions for a new batch of trainees is poised to deliver the new programmes with the same zeal and passion it has been known for over the years and that the CMA has accreditation from the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Offshore Petroleum Industry Training Organisation (OPITO), Department of Petroleum Resoures (DPR) and the Nautical Institute (NI) of London among others to train maritime and offshore industry practitioners. He added that the institution has trained over 12,000 Nigerians and foreign nationals in STCW maritime courses and oil and gas offshore courses while forging partnerships with international shipping companies to provide real-time experience for cadets in fulfilment of its mandate to build capacity for the Nigerian maritime industry and fill the gap in unmet demands for the admission of young Nigerian school-leavers into higher institutions
