The Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) earlier today turned up for the product launch and commissioning of an upgraded valve assembly plant of one of her member companies, Catobi Enterprises Nigeria Limited in Port-Harcourt, Rivers State.MD/CEO of Catobi, Engr. Dr. Okey Ukaegbu in his welcome remarks said that the upgraded plant was done in partnership with Revalve Russia, a company that has been in Nigeria for the equipment installation and training of its engineers in an effort to strengthen Catobi’s in-country Valve Assembly operations, maintenance and instrumentation services.
“The plant”, he said, “has been upgraded to do shut-off and control valve testing, test pressure safety bunker operations, valve assembling and disassembling and is aimed at developing indigenous capabilities in the Nigerian oil and gas services sector through the upgrade of our company’s valve assembly plant.”Catobi has over 10 years’ experience in the valve maintenance industry, with a large clientele base including but not limited to Shell, TotalEnergies Nigeria , AGIP, Daewoo, Saipem amongst others”.
Commissioning the project, the Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Content Development & Monitoring Board (NCDMB), Engr. Simbi Wabote expressed delight with the milestone recorded by Catobi and said that it was a thing of pride to Nigeria, Nigerians and the Local Content Agenda being driven by the NCDMB.
“I feel a sense of immense pride that one of our indigenous companies have yet again recorded another milestone in the indigenisation of technology in oil and gas operations as well as the development of capacities of Nigerians. It is a good sign for the indistry that we pray to see more of”.
The NCDMB boss who also used the occasion to commend both the executives and members of PETAN endorsed the support of the NCDMB for PETAN’s industry events, thr Sub-Sahara African International Exhibition and Conference (SAIPEC) and the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC), which he said gives stakeholders across the oil and gas industry opportunities to create more value added services through strategic collaborations such as the one witnessed between Catobi and a foreign partner.
